Amina was the warrior queen of Zauzzau now Zaria in Kaduna State , Nigeria
Born in 1533, She is also known as Amina Sarauniya Zazzau.
Queen Amina reigned for 34 Years at the turn of 16th and 17th Centuries.
She was a skillful warrior who commanded a vast army which conquered many territories and expanded her kingdom.
She also opened up trade routes to enable her subjects export their produce. She is believed to have initiated the cultivation of Kolanuts in her territory.
Apart from being blessed with the unique gift of leadership,Queen Amina was the first to introduce administration in the North.
For the fear of losing her power and status, She never married nor have any children.
She is reputed to take any man captured after a battle, spend the night with him, then kill him in the morning so he could tell no stories.
Queen Amina was said to have died in a battle in 1610 at Atagara, a place in the present Kogi State ,Nigeria
