Many times, people mistake arrogance for confidence and they end up losing out big time.
Confidence and arrogance are two different things.
Confidence is a feeling of self assurance that comes from an appreciation of our competence or ability while arrogance is characterised by having an exaggerated or bloated sense of our importance or ability.
One thing is for your work to speak for you and the joy it gives people around you gives an assurance that you are doing good rather than pretending to be who you are not.
You can be confident without being arrogant and here’s how:
1. Check out your body language. How you appear to people means a lot. Pay attention to how you interact with people around you. They won’t forget, they don’t forget.
2. Be careful with your words. Mind your choice of words when talking to people. Don’t speak as if you are better than anyone else. That is arrogance not confidence
3. Celebrate other people’s success. Don’t be a kill joy. Don’t envy.your own time will come. Always remember that you are in competition with only yourself and no one.
4. Own your mistakes. Dont push it on someone else. Don’t blame others for your failure. This will help you grow your confidence and earn you respect.
5. Acknowledge your weak points. Don’t use arrogance to cover up. Ask for help when you need you. You will be amazed to see where help will come for you.
The most important thing to note is that, with resilience, commitment, passion and God, you will share success stories.
