Beans Cooking Made Easy

One of the many reasons why people avoid cooking beans product is the period of time spent on preparing the food either as beans and rice, Bean porridge, Akara [Bean Cakes] or Moinmoin.

And beans is described as one of the essential sources of protein, B Vitamins and many other important Vitamins and Minerals.

For those who don’t know, beans help reduce sugar level, help maintain a healthy gut and also improve your cholesterol levels.

Beans are also used in several traditional dishes throughout the world and more creative  chefs daily come up with new recipes for eating beans.

Here is a tip to eating beans throughout the month. It has worked for me for years now and I thought to share: once a month I invest time in a one off boiling of beans to up to 80% level. Then I portion into sizes that will last me for either two weeks or one month the case may be. When cooking, please ensure you do not add any seasoning, oil or pepper so that it will not lose the taste when you are ready to eat it later.

For bean cakes and Moinmoin etc. just peel the size that will last for some time, wash and drain. Then portion in Ziploc bags or any bag you find useful and drop in your freezer.

I am a lover of Akara and I eat at least 2 times during the week and trust me, it’s the easiest breakfast I prepare these days.

For those who would rather go for ready made food, many beans meal businesses are online where you can order from. But of course, you have all the options available.
